Organic Apricot Festival in Shenik orchard
On 1 July, 2017, the first Organic Apricot Festival took place at Shenik orchard in Armavir Marz. This event was organised within the project "Expansion of Organic Fruit Production Through Upgrading the Organic Orchard Management and Streamlining Horticulturist Farmers into Organic Agriculture Cooperative" implemented with the support of the OASI Project. The festival attended Gerhard Schaumberger, Head of Office for Technical Cooperation of the Austrian Embassy in Yerevan, Matthias Kiesler, Ambassador of Germany to Armenia, Ashot Harutyunyan, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture, honourable guests from OASI project, German Embassy, guests from Diaspora and nearby communities as well as farmers, members of the newly established Organic Fruit Producers cooperative. The festival launched with blessings of Tatev Archbishop Sarkissian.
During this unique event the visitors tasted delicious organic apricots and traditional Armenian meals while enjoying ethnic dance and music performed by the local dance and song ensembles. Children form beneficiary communities presented their artworks during the festival.
